Ars Scientifica
Using the James Webb Space Telescope as a predicate and paradigm for science, this project portrays mutations or transformations of basic building blocks of science, which morph from reality into imagination and fantasy. Images are combined and redefined into something new but remain basic, mutating disparate images into a new aesthetic with unique permutations.
With the continued emergence of new variations of Covid-19 with varied lethality, no attempt has been made to image all subvariants, but multiple transmutations have been created. To date, the BA.5 Omicron mutation accounts for 87% of Covid transformations. There are more than 50 new variants present in Omicron and seemingly infinite ways for it to further mutate and rearrange the 30,000 base pairs in its genome.
